INTECH wins the automation scope of a major platform restoration and upgrade project in offshore Nigeria

INTECH Process Automation has won the automation scope of a major crude production platform restoration and upgrade project in offshore Nigeria.

The said production platform is located approximately 25 miles offshore in 90 ft of water depth and comprises of quarters platform, a production platform and an out of service compression platform. The field hosting the facility was commissioned in 1970 and is a very significant contributor to the crude production in the region. The production platform processes 24 satellite wellhead platforms.

It is noteworthy to point out here that all process control and monitoring on platform is performed through a Distributed Control System (DCS) / Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and every safety protective function is through the Emergency Shutdown System (ESD).

This project aims to address the growing atmospheric impact on the platform and mitigate the growing reliability concerns of continued operations with the objective of a reduced platform safety exposure to below Cat 2. The Scope of the project includes integrity repairs of degraded platform structural members, process equipment, and safety systems as well as selective upgrades of existing control systems and drain systems.

The client, therefore, desired a trusted system integrator with an excellent record of business operations in the region. INTECH Process Automation has been involved in some of the region’s biggest oil and gas projects for more than a decade and its track record has been remarkable. INTECH’s outstanding accomplishments; speaking volumes about its best-in-class solutions and services over the years; convinced the client to be the perfect system integrator for the restoration project.

INTECH scope includes supply, design and engineering of PCS and ESD. The project is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2016.

More will be reported about this project on these pages as it proceeds.
